How to use a USB camera?

1. Connect the webcam to your computer. Plug the USB cable of the webcam into one of the rectangular USB ports on the side or back of the computer.

USB plugs can only be plugged in one direction. If the plug does not fit into the connector, turn the plug 180 degrees and try again.

If you’re using a Mac, you’ll most likely need to buy a USB to USB-C adapter to connect a regular webcam.

Make sure you connect the webcam directly to your computer and not to a USB hub. USB hubs are often too low to operate a webcam.

2. This is a plug and play webcam that does not include a CD. Connect the webcam to your computer to start the setup process. During setup, you need to click through a series of settings windows before clicking the Install button.

3. Follow all instructions on the screen. Pay attention to the information in the windows. Most likely, you will need to select certain settings for the web camera to work later.

4. Adjust the webcam as needed.

5. Start a video call with Skype or any other program. Test the sound of the webcam. When talking to the webcam, look for activity spikes next to the „Audio“ section (or similarly titled) in the webcam window. If you do not see any activity here, the webcam microphone will not work and may need to be activated in the settings of the webcam or computer.

6. If necessary, change the settings of your webcam as needed.
